What’s the Difference Between Keratin and a Brazilian Blow Dry Straightening Treatment?

Often confused with the standard Keratin treatment, this bespoke smoothing treatment eliminates frizz and infuses shine, using a bonding technology that improves the overall condition of your hair. The treatment can cut your blow-drying time in half and lasts up to 12 weeks, depending on your hair type and routine.

My clients are often unsure about the difference between a Brazilian Blowdry and a standard Keratin treatment, so I hope this post will help explain.

The Brazilian blowdry can be adjusted for different hair textures, so I can flat iron the hair at different temperatures and achieve different looks depending on the effect you’re looking for.

What this means is that if you don't want your hair completely straight, I can tailor the treatment so that your natural hair texture isn't completely lost. I’ll always seal the treatment with a flat iron to that you'll still have smooth, voluminous waves when the treatment is done.

In contrast, Keratin treatment is available in many different formulas so you can spend a long Googling and researching to find the right treatment for you. If you’re unsure about what's best for your hair, then this can be a time-consuming process.

After the Brazilan Blowdry treatment I prefer my clients to wait two days before washing their hair. However, this isn’t a must – they’re free to wash their hair straight afterwards if they want to.

With Keratin, the advice is to wait three days before washing or tying up your hair. If you do anything that involves wet hair – including getting caught in a downpour - is obviously not ideal.
